How to write professional modern Christmas cards
So schreiben Sie zeitgemäße Weihnachtsgrüße
About 80% of business people say they like receiving Christmas cards from business partners.
A card shows a client or an employee that you are thinking of them, and it also reminds them of your brand, especially if you choose a card with your company logo. Typical cards depict what we in Europe or the USA see as typically Christmassy – snow, Christmas trees, Father Christmas on his sleigh and so on – all symbols of European and American traditions. But today’s multinational business environment creates new challenges. Many cultures do not celebrate Christmas, and companies have begun to rethink the images – and the wording – they want on their greetings cards.
To show respect for the religious and cultural backgrounds of employees and clients, many companies now prefer terms like “Holiday Season” instead of “Christmas”. Images and verses focus on themes like human unity, the desire for peace or the value of relationships.
Some firms send photo cards featuring their employees.
Many choose cards that support a charity, like UNICEF or Oxfam, to show that they are a caring company.
More and more companies are sen ding out customized greetings cards. These contain a personal message printed with the company name, logo and sometimes special artwork or verses.
Whatever you choose, make your cards professional by following these five guidelines:
1 Personalise the card by writing the name of the customer, supplier or employee.
2 Sign the card, add a personal message if it’s for a close contact
3 Make sure the card is signed by someone the client or customer knows.
4 Send the cards on time.
5 Don’t send cards before December or you’ll be too early for the festive season.
