Is it true that fuel is always sold only in gallons in the USA and UK?
Petrol, or gas as it is called in American English, is sold in gallons in both the UK and the USA. In the USA, you will only see the price per gallon on the petrol /gas pump, but in the UK, prices are per gallon and per litre.
By the way, an American gallon is less than a British gallon. An American gallon equals 3.79 litres. A British gallon, which is also called an imperial gallon, is the equivalent of 4.55 litres.
